I have been playing a bit of UT recently but I'm really struggling to get it to run well. I just can't get it to run smoothly. I have tried D3D and the latest utglr opengl renderer. The best I have got is with the utglr but it still isn't smooth. It isn't a lack of frames as I can limit it to 60 or 100 and it stays fairly constant, it just doesn't feel nice.

Any advice?

Also, I think knives are a good idea. Big, fuck-off shiny ones. Ones that look like they could skin a crocodile. Knives are good, because they don't make any noise, and the less noise they make, the more likely we are to use them. Shit 'em right up. Makes it look like we're serious. Guns for show, knives for a pro.

what grafix do you have?
what's the processor? (is it a dual core AMD which might need 2nd core turned off?)

what's operating system and what nvid driver?

Yes. I have a 8800GT with the latest nvid drivers running on XP with amd dual core. Will give it a go on single core.

only problems seemed to be with the older AMD dual cores.
the Intel's were all ok afaik.

with the nvid drivers - the latest are not necessarily the best to use.
I tend to go for drivers that have the most number of downloads so they might be a month or more old.

Well, it's ok but it just isn't as smooth as it was back in the day. I'm going to try a re-install as I am running the same install that I keep copying from PC to PC.

yeah - same here.
the install of UT has remained the same over the past 7-10 pc's I have made over the years.

one other thing to try - look in the grafix driver profiles and make one for UT.
