Not one to rest on it's laurels, Nvidia's new flagship card looks set to pound AMD/ATi into the ground.
As some of us already know the 8800GTX is a very powerfull card, Nvidia's brief was to design something that had DOUBLE the power of the 8800GTX. Enter the GTX 280.

I don't get it...they done the 9800 stuff and now have they abandoned that and have gone with a completely new numbering system?

I don't reckon you've got long. Seen that before. Gut wound. The slug's probably torn right through your liver. Mate of mine in Ulster got caught in sniper fire. Bullet blew his inside out. He screamed for a good 10 minutes. We couldn't send a medic in, the section was too hot. So we all took cover... and watched him die. I've never told that... to anyone... you should've called an ambulance... for the girl...

Well it is about time they did something about the numbering system. It was an utter joke. I'm sure each generation had around 3 or 4 tiers each with a few sub tiers in it and then the overlap between high and low end cards between generations and the fact that some cheaper cards out perform more expensive cards. Must be bleeding confusing to anyone who isn't familiar with it.

the naming convention is stupid imo, but these new cards warrant a new name as the GPU is completely different. The 9800GTX /GX2 was essentially the same GPU as the 8800GT and the newer 8800GTS (G92 core).
