Thinking of moving the PC downstairs, don't really want to use the wireless to connect, running a 20 metre Cat5 seems like a chew on, so was thinking about investing in a couple of homeplugs / powerline ethernet adapters.

Anyone have any experience with them? Do they add any latency to your connection?

I have 3 of them so I have 2 rooms connected (front room/bedroom).
Can't say I've noticed latency but I've not played UT style across them, only things like Guitar Hero/Rock Band.

Speeds are good. I've found the older the house, the better speed you get.

You failed to maintain your weapon, Son.
I don't reckon you've got long. Seen that before. Gut wound. The slug's probably torn right through your liver. Mate of mine in Ulster got caught in sniper fire. Bullet blew his inside out. He screamed for a good 10 minutes. We couldn't send a medic in, the section was too hot. So we all took cover... and watched him die. I've never told that... to anyone... you should've called an ambulance... for the girl...

I've got to say I've not noticed any problems at all with either of my wireless networks. I've played on XBox Live fine, played Mario Kart on the Wii through Nintendo WFC without lag - and all while my girlfriend has been thumping our connection with game downloads and web surfing. I guess that is why I was asking, to get some proper perspective on it all. I'm very interested to hear the two comments from vit and az - they definitely weren't what I was expecting!

took homeplugs back to pc world yesterday and got a full refund.

I found an increase of 10ms in latency, packet loss and eventual connection failure. No matter what I did I couldn't get the two to talk to each other reliably. It may be the mains in my house to blame for the connection issues, I'm not sure, looks like running of cat5 now if I really want the pc downstairs.
